How to Start an Affiliate Program and Increase Sales
Why have an affiliate program? What are the risks and what are the benefits?
The only "risk" I can think of is that you will have to give up a portion of your income, whether you offer a per click, per lead or per sale program.
There are many, many positive reasons for having an affiliate program. For one, it's free. You don't have to pay your affiliates to advertise your product or your website. It's also an excellent means of advertising.
It's a win-win situation for both you and the affiliate. It costs the affiliate nothing to put up a link or a banner.
Corey Rudl, another Internet success guru says "If you don't have an Associate Program for your product or service, you are literally throwing money away. Think of all the benefits an automated associates program could bring you: increased profits, larger customer base (that you can resell to for even more profits!), and less time spent with pre-paid banner or ezine advertising." He believes it is the cheapest way to gain sales in a short period of time and states that his affiliate program has made his business explode.
In order to get an affiliate program going, you are going to need software that will keep track of all the sales, clicks, etc. purchased by the different affiliate websites.
An Associate Program is the least risky, least expensive way, by far, to acquire new customers and to explode your sales in a short period of time. It sure beats the heck out of paying for advertising up front. Why not pay for advertisers only when a sale is made…the ultimate way to advertise.
